Okay so I have the following materials:

Fleece
Wadding
6mm foam
Towels

I'm planning on making a cage liner. With the cage being 5x3 grids i was going to make two 2.5x3 liner so that I could fit it in my 6k tumble dryer.

I'm just after your opinions, here are my options:
1) cage liner with mattress protector sewn inbetween fleece.
2) cage liner without an absorbent layer but ill place a mattress protector or towels underneath. I could put some foam or 6oz wadding under the fleece- my reasoning for no absorbent layer is incase I don't get it all in the washer at the same time.

Or anything else you can recommend I do with the materials I already have (I don't mind buying a mattress protector though!

If I get a mattress protector what type does it need to be? Thank you :)

Would love to help, but have no idea as far as material bedding goes! Hopefully someone will be along shortly who can offer some advice - good luck!

I've made fleece liners but I haven't put wadding in them, I use 2 layers of fleece stitched together and then have puppy pads underneath to catch the wee as it wicks through. Like you I have made 2 liners each half the size of the cage as it's easier to pull one out at a time if one area is taking more of a hit than the other and also they fit into the washing machine easier. I've now got several sets of them and they work brilliantly.

I've only bought enough for 1 layer of fleece so I'm wondering whether I should get a mattress protector and sew to the fleece.
Will 1 layer of fleece and mattress protector be enough do you think? Or should I put a towel/newspaper underneath?

I have some small cage liners that were made for me by a forum member. It's a layer of fleece with mattress protector sewn as the second layer. No bottom fleece layer.
They work well and I remember her saying that the mattress protector needs to be cotton.

Most of my liners are like these. I also put 4 sheets of newspaper under the regular wee'd on areas. Make your liners oversize an inch all round as they will shrink a little.

I bought a mattress protector today- it's 100% polyester lining and the outside is 35%cotton and 65%polyester. Do you think this will be okay? It was either that or a terry sheet which said 100% Vera for the lining and 75% cotton, 25% polyester inside. Which would have been better so you think? I can take it back and swap if I bought the wrong one

Can anyone help please? Just don't want to see all this together and get it all washed for it to be the wrong type of mattress protector. I've googled it too and can't find anything about them. Thank you
