So a couple of weeks ago I ordered a cage liner and it came today.. I ordered it from 'Ziggy's Piggies' and I'm impressed with the quality!

It's come with washing instructions but can anyone tell me if I need to put anything underneath the cage liner? I've been told the fleece liner has an absorbent later inbetween the two layers of fleece but would something underneath help? And how long do most people go without washing them?

Thanks :D

you don't need anything underneath because any wetness will be contained in the middle layer. i would change it every few days personally. it will likely be dry still but i think twice a week change minimum of any type of any bedding is essential :) like @Chief Guinea Pig has said above :)

I agree with @7squeakers.

Fleece SHOULD be washed every 3-4 days. It doesn't matter if you can't smell anything, or see any stains, bacteria builds up.

i'm glad you said this because some people only seem concerned with whether they can smell anything and this shouldn't be the top priority. i saw this video on youtube recently and the person had fleece over some kind of traditional bedding. when they said the fleece is changed once a week i was like erm ok... and then they said the underneath...... about every eight weeks!! i was horrified when i thought they were going to say eight days! and then he said weeks! :woot::woot::woot:

i'm still in shock :)):)):))

Oh dear lord!
I have noticed people think that as long as it doesn't smell it is clean. Good to remind people though haha x

I have one from Ziggy's Piggies too. I don't put anything underneath, and wash twice a week. No problems so far :)

:DZiggy's Piggies cage liners are great. But I have found that it can be hard to get them dry in winter or if you can't hang them out on the line.:td:
