Hi what does everyone recommend is a good size c&c cage for 5 female guinea pigs? My profile is the current set up but I'm not happy with how clean it is. Thanks for any help

I would take out the hutch. It looks like it just would make it harder to clean, without giving them a lot more space to make up for it! Would you be able to extend it by an another grid to a 7x2 ?bigger is easier to keep clean strangely. You could always give them a ‘loft’ using C&C if they’re used to that element.

Thankyou for your reply. I am thinking of taking the hutch out as its becoming a pain to clean like you said. Yeah I was hoping to add some more grids to increase the space. My only wonder is what to put on the bottom I've seen correx trays but they seem expensive and I've tried blanket flooring too but I personally didn't get on with it. I have the whole set up sitting on lino so was thinking of folding it up to keep the bedding in. Thanks

Cant advise on the flooring I’m afraid - I use correx. Do you use a substrate? If there’s nothing to soak up the pee it’ll just sit on the lino and get walked about - yucky! The other good thing with correx trays is that they keep (most of) the bedding in!

Did you buy one that was already a tray or did you make one from a large sheet please? Thanks

I recently bought a sheet of 4mm thick correx to make into a base for my 5x3 c&c, including delivery it cost about £17. It was 2400x1200mm, so you would need to use some of the spare correx from the width to extend the length as far as seven grids.
2mm thick correx or similar is available from DIY places such as Wickes I believe if you're in the UK, and is cheaper.

I bought it ready sized and scored etc. And paid for the luxury! Wicks and similar shops sell it and I would def go for 4mm over 2. Just needs careful measuring and scoring and would be perfectly doable as a diy job.

We use a c&c Hybrid. We use Plastic picnic sheet on the carpet, with towels on top then double fleece. It works for us, the hay gets out but I am a clean freak so hoovering is a hobby so it not to bad to tidy up
