I want to get pippin and poppy out of their ferplast 100 and into a larger cage, preferably c and c. My issue is persuading my parents who feel that they are fine in the cage they are in. I am happy to buy all the materials myself I just need a list of what I would need. I would like a 2 x 5 but we only have enough room for a 2 x 4, with a loft. I also would like it to stand at waist height but don't know how to achieve this without a table? And I can't afford one that's big enough. One grid acting as legs would still be too short I think. Any ideas? I also need a base material and a cheap supplier of grids, how many grids would I need? Sorry for all the questions!

http://www.wayfair.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black-5279BL-SAF1061.html - these are a pretty good price too. Be careful about how many grids you get in a pack and make sure it is enough to make a base. I bought grids before and was told after that it was to be built on the floor so base grids werent needed (face palm) I ended up cable tying it to cardboard boxes (large ones from supermarkets. Ask for crisp boxes!).. These are actually pretty solid but wont stand being pee'd on.

The liner I used was correx! http://www.teacratepackaging.co.uk/correx-board - this stuff is thinner than some, but provides the waterproof protection! and is cheap enough to by several sheets and make a few mistakes!

As for a rudimentary table, some people like to spread the load over a couple of chests of drawers.. You can keep your dry food etc. in here to keep it tidy. I myself have just been to B&Q and spent nearly £35 on wood to make a home made table in an L shape. We'll.. uh.. see how that goes :P

My main issue is being able to raise it up above ground level. The loft could come later if needs be. I have been able to find the grids but am struggling on a base as I don't have the time to make one myself, as well as finding something to put it on :)

We used these and sawed them in half, two (x4 halves) of them made a sturdy base for six foot pens by screwing them together...sounds complicated but it made fab bases.

Shop around as you can get these cheaper - we only paid around £13 per unit and you get great storage space underneath.
Maybe a strong trestle that you could drill the base of the pen onto...?

Okay so I think I know what I need! Finally! Getting really excited haha. I have seen that some people use the grids as a stand, does anyone know if it's possible to make these 2 high for a stand without compromising stability?

I wouldn't use those. They are plastic which won't allow enough air flow and be subject to being chewed imo. You would be far better with the proper C&C wire grids. :)

Thanks, just looked at them again and they wouldn't be high enough either :(

You could try a wallpaper paste table, they are big enough and really cheap. :)

I have had a look but I have managed to find everything a little cheaper, just need to actually order it now! Thank everyone for your help locating supplies etc. If anyone has any tips on how to score correx they are more than welcome! I am going for a 4mm one.

Can I ask where you found one cheaper only I'm after one myself but have been put off by the price. Thanks ,Jo
