Hi. Due to unexpected Guinea pig pregnancies, I've had to buy another cage as the cage my 2 girls are in right now is completely unsuitable for more then two piggies but i am impatiently waiting on the delivery of a 2x5 C&C cage which should be with me soon as it's being despatched this week but anyway with the help of my handy man brother was thinking of combining all of the cages so that it will be roughly 2x8 or maybe 2x9. Unfortunately the only baby that one of my Guinea pigs had died last Monday and my other Guinea pig (from what the vet said) is carrying 2 maybe 3 babies so we could potentially have 5 Guinea pigs. Obviously I've been thinking about what to do when it comes to the sex of the babies. If she has more then 1 boy i will be gutted as I really would love to keep them all but more then one boy even if they are neutered will surely cause fights also boys need more cage space that i won't have. So if she does have 3 i'm really rooting for all girls or 2 girls and one boy. I currently use dust extracted wood shaving and straw for their bedding but am going to give fleece bedding a try for they're new cage as daily poo picking out would be so much easier. I was just wondering if using newspaper and towels under the fleece will be ok for them. I would do a clean out of the cage every 4 days along with daily poo cleaning but would that be absorbent enough for all of the wee they will do?

I use a layer of newspaper, then puppy pads then have the fleece on top. I poo pick twice a day then a big clean out every 2-3 days. My pigs absolutely love the fleece as it's nice and snuggly. I used to use other materials but find my pigs much happier and they popcorn like mad when they get fresh fleece! It's also much easier to keep clean as you can see all the poop! I would highly recommend it! (But that's just mine, and piggies, preference)
Hope this helps?

When I used fleece I used either newspaper, then a couple of towels, then the fleece on top. In the end I had fleece cage liners made. With those you literally bat off the poops and hay, and put it into the washing machine when its time for cleaning. Much easier in my opinion.
