Cage Designs?

Whats that you say cage designs? Ah, not again.

Ok so I was going to bring the bottom out and have 2 "3x2" side by side. Then just leave the other "2x4" on top. That was until Mother dearest say why don't I bring all the cage out and have a "3x4" for all the pigs.

Do you think my mum is insane? :o
 
I have a triple decker 3 x 4 cage in my living room, top floor split into 2 3 x 2's. Works a treat! Your mum's not mad, i agree with her!
 
Cy has never used support beams but I think they would be better. Hard to explain what he does really but it involves cutting a length of grid anslotting it into the spacers, it comes out when we want to get the trays out.

I'll look for some photos now....
 
Would you be able to slide the trays out for cleaning out? I'm guessing Lisa has this down to a fine art by now. That would be my only concern- being able to reach to the back.

Can't find photos but will take some later. I slide out the bottom 2 trays and lean in on the top floor.

Mine is on wheels too as MY GOSH its heavy!
 
As the cage will be a beast I want it slightly off the ground an inch or so and on wheels! Thanks for the idea Lisa!

I would like a wooden frame too like what kimberley has done (If you have seen it, it's ace). This time I want the cage done right!

I was considering hiring a joiner, can I do that? Will they be open to following plans I have made? Or do they not do that kinda of idea.

As helpful as my dad is I don't think he will be very good at helping and he shouts alot during building (he's a man) what can we say. I would rather hire someone that doesn't shout and just does what I want.

Anyone did this?
 
I'm thinking of an L - shape design although my dad seems to think this will be more difficult.

He's agreed to help now we may fallout over this :))!

Kimberley has pigtures,I'll check her blog and see if shes updated it yet! I can't beleive she hasn't done a thread yet :))! I think we should remind her rolleyes!

Hahaha! No pics yet because it isn't finished :red LOL! Should be done tomorrow. Joanne's had a sneaky peek as a preview because she's cage designing :) Needs to be finished tomorrow as I don't want it dragging over the bank hol...
