Does anyone with their piggies in the house cover their cages (those with a top) with a blanket or towel overnight? I've never thought of covering the girls cage but now that Isabelle is poorly, still, I did it last night. As a child we always had birds and we covered their cages at night.

I don’t. They have their hides as cover I guess.

In the winter our house can be drafty. When the heating is off at night I put a fleece blanket over the ends of the cages that are by the door in case a draft comes through from the back door. It's probably unnecessary as we have a thick curtain over the back door and a draft excluder at the bottom of the living room door but I'd rather be safe than sorry. They also have fleece hides, snuggle safes and when it's very cold we leave the heating on at 15 degrees - I think maybe they are a bit spoilt!

Hahaha piggies as never spoilt (in their opinion), but they are treasured. We're lucky as despite our cottage being 300 years old it isn't drafty. When it's chilly our girls have fleecy hides which I swap for fleece at the bottom of an upturned box hide and a cuddle cup, and like you, the heating is turned down low but never off when it is cold. That helps our stone walls too win win all round

I thought the reason for covering birds cages at night it so it goes dark and they know it's time to sleep. Obviously piggies sleep when they want to in short bursts so this wouldn't be relevant for them.

We have small covers over each end of our cage permanently. Offers some peace from the toddler, stops them kicking loads of hay out from hay tray and stops any draughts from the window. I wouldn’t cover the entire cage though.
