Hi All,

My current Cage is a 2 level c&c cage, the bottom level being 3x2 and the top level being L shaped 2x3- heres a picture of it:

I like the current design but i think it's getting a bit tight for my growing girls- i would need to make alterations to the ramp anyway as they can just about squeeze onto it now due to the way it is positioned in the cage as you can see here:

Now what i am thinking of doing is making it into one level so it's 3x4x2, basically because i want to use the correx i already have which is in two pieces- i was thinking of sticking them side by side and building the cubes around them.

I will be cutting the side off the L shaped correx and the two correx pieces will be joined by flattening the side of the bottom level correx and sticking it down
(I can then put the side of the bottom correx back up for when i take the cage to my moms when she looks after my pigs when i go away)

Here's a diagram of what I'm thinking of doing:

I couldn't do the Cage this way to begin with as my other half was mad enough at me for the cage being 'so big' as it is- at the time. But now he is well and truly smitten he's more then happy for me to give them more floor space- and as they have the 3rd bedroom to themselves it is possible for me to do this- woohoo :)

So what do you think- would this be OK? I'm hoping it will be better for my piggies and give them more running space.

Has anyone else gone from a two level cage to a larger one level cage or similar, and did their piggies seem happier for it?

I think its great idea if it means giving the girls more space. I know that correx can be stuck together and as long as you have something absorbent on top then you wont get any leakage.

I'm sure that your girls will love their new cage design once its finished. :))

I think it's a great idea too! Your piggies will love it, more room to run around :)

Thank you for your replys :)

I'm glad others think my ideas good too, they are growing so quicky now and i just don't want them feeling cooped up all day when i'm at work.
It's only the evenings they get to go out in their run so that's about 19 hours in the cage between run time :(

So i think it is time for a cage change now, i think it will also be easier to clean then two levels. I'm also still going to setup the indoor run next to the cage so hopefully they will be happy with all the extra room- well almost the entire bedroom :(|)

I'm going to be making a start tommorow as i can set aside the whole evening and also put nice clean bedding on as it's just been put out to dry today and will add pictures when done- with added piggies :)

Well i made a start yesterday- took the top level of the cage off (Not sure what my girls made of that lol- the ran around the cage like it was a brand new place to investigate lol :) )

I also got the other half of the cage prepared so all i need to do tonight is is stick the correx sides down, stick the two pieces of correx together and connect the cubes- can't wait to get home and get started now so roll on home time :)

Pictures will be taken and posted up when i get chance- might try to get a video of my two girls in it for the first time too :)
