I have 4 guineas all girls and i have quite a large double hutch for them i use sawdust and then hay in the bed side and they have a run for during the day, they are kept down in the cellar as i dont like them outside the cellar is heated and has lights etc but I'm looking at pics on here and all the guineas look so lovely with there fleeces and sleep pods etc? am i doing anything wrong with having them on sawdust? i would much prefer fleece but wont they just pee all over it etc? and is it possible to have them in a hutch!?

Shavings are not good for guinea pigs. They make them sneeze and are so messy. I used to use them before I knew this. Now I put down a layer of towels and two layers of fleece. Twice a day I pick up poops and every three days I change the bedding. You wash it without fabric conditioner. Piggies love fleece. It is warm and cosy for them.

Sure you are. Put the towels down first. Some people use things like a shower curtain under the towels for extra protection.

The fleece needs to have an absorbant layer underneath, such as towels, newspaper, matress protector, and it needs to be washed without soft rinse 3 times (the soft rinse seals the top, and stops the wee wicking away)

:) You can most definatly use it in a hutch.
