Hi,

I'm looking online at the price of cable ties and realising there are a few different sizes available (you learn something new everyday!).

What size is suitable for building a C&C cage please?

Hey there! The size of the cable really doesn't matter, so long as it can wrap around the interconnected cubes to securely fasten them. This isn't a very large diameter, so you should be fine with the smaller size.

Good luck!

I use a fairly thick ones, my cages do have to be extra sturdy though to cope with moving/moving house/multi-level. rolleyes

I use 3.5 x 200mm. The 3.5 is the width, the 200 is the length.

If you dont want to buy online and have to pay postage, places like B+Q sell them and even some pound stores. We have a wonderful wholesalers near us that does them in bags of 100 for half the price of some shops.

I used fairly small ones for my temporary c&c and it was fine and the cable ties were less obvious.
I completely agree with holiday hutch though. You can get cable ties anywhere dead cheap! I got about a hundred in a €2 store, or they go up to about seven euro for a big packet in places like Homebase, B&Q or Halfords. :)

I got a multi pack of 3 different sizes, there was 100 in there for £1 in my local pound shop, the size really doesnt matter though, if they're too long, you can just snip the excess off xx

Thanks for all the info. xoxo

I seen a bag of 100 for cheap on ebay, free P&P. They were grey which would match my grids (that finally arrived today - wooohooo!). Though only 2mm thick, which made me wonder would they be strong enough to hold an upper level long term.

I think I'll keep an eye out for 3.5mm or above like you Laura. Better to err on the side of caution. Esp after hearing about grid coming down on a friend's upper level which had been secured using the connectors supplied with the grids.

Wickes is the best place to get them you can buy the cubes from there aswell.but you have to order them online well as my local store does not stock them.I build C+C cgaes for a living so i always spend over £45 and get free postage and packaging howeveer i dont think the postage will be that much.It may be better shopping around B+Q even places like tescos do them

No Wickes stores in Northern Ireland and they don't deliver to here either.
I'm heading to B&Q at the weekend, I'm sure I'll pick some up there, if not in a pound shop before then.

Thanks for the info. xoxo

Score!
Went to the pound shop yesterday and got 2 bags of 100 natural cable ties (3.5mm) for 50p each. They were having a closing down half price sale. ;) I know I won't need 200, but at that price I thought I may as well buy two bags, I'll always find other uses for them.
