hello I'm going to start my c&c cages this weekend but i was wondering how you make a door that opens? I'm having an enclosed cage as we have cats so will need a door is it basically cable ties as hinges?

Hi there,

I have a 3 floor encloses c&c (as I have a cat too).

For doors I have used cable ties and only tied one side as if they were hinges if that makes sense.

I then keep it shut by tying it together with something - I use shoe laces.
you can have the hinge on the side or top, which ever suits you best.

my 3 levels are 4x2 and on each level the centre 2 panels open up.

Not sure if this is making any sense at all...? :{

thats great with regards to the floor of the cage on the higher levels how do you give them strength?

To be fair mine didn't need any support at all until i put the 3rd level in. And my cat absolutely loves to sleep on top of the cage!

Now what I have done is added a panel on the middle floor which goes across, so part dividing the middle floor if that makes sense.

I know that some people have used wooden slats or similar which go horizontally across directly beneath each level to support it.

Personally I found that with lots of cable ties it held together perfectly well even with my fat cat on top :))

remember to put pics up when its ready

thanks again do you have pics of your cage hun?

I have a few pics yes, they are not very good quality though...

Hopefully you can see what i mean about the support panel there. it also stops the pigs from falling down the ramp...

I have added a piece of vetbed on the very top of the cage as this is where my cat likes to sleep + the pigs like to have something overhead.

I have to say though, they are not scared of the cat one bit - although they probably should be....

I hope this helps
