I am currently planning a bit of a cage area revamp for the piggies.
I was wondering if anyone has a C&C held together with just cable ties and no connectors.
The cages are 5 x 2, and will have a grid floor with correx liner and be on a solid table.
Would cable ties alone make it stable enough?

The problem is that I have 2 sizes of grid, and 2 different connectors, and the connectors keep popping off and driving me crazy, so I would love to be able to do away with them all together.

Any advice would be very gratefully appreciated before I take the whole thing apart.

I tried with just cable ties but it was wobbly. Still is a bit but then it is 10 x 2. Using grids on the vottom would probably help keep it rigid. Obvs with nice thick bedding over the top.

I only used cable ties, and I don't have a grid floor, just the corex. I find the corex keeps it in reasonable shape. It's not quite as rigid as the connectors would make it, but it's perfectly secure and stable. Mine is on the floor - if it was on a table which was tight for space it might be an issue.

I've got a grid floor in one of mine that's just cable tied. It's ok. Not quite as sturdy as using connectors as well but it's not too bad.

My first C&C I made with just cable ties. It was super sturdy and even had a lid. The only thing was, I just didn't think it looked as neat. When I made the new one, I used the connectors and was surprised how strong it was (I have a base as well) and I just think it looked so much tidier. It also makes the cage a little bit bigger as well because the connectors space the grids apart more than cable ties do.

I found both ways just as strong and they both work well, I'm just a neat freak :D

I've recently moved my cage (2x5) and decided to get rid of the connectors as they kept coming off. I also have a stand made of grids, also only cable ties. It's very strong, I just made sure to use lots and lots of very tight cable ties.

I just used white cable ties too, they seemed to do the trick. I found it difficult to push them in

I love the house and IKEA bed, your guineas must love those,

I use garden wire for the things that most small animal people use cable ties. I've set up a C+C before with only garden wire - worked fine.
eta - I've never set them up with squares under the vinyl/ correx
