Hiya all!

Ok so I have errected a C&C L Shaped cage for Alan & Oscar. It's 7x2 one side and then 5x2 the other side with a ladder and a 2x2 hay loft. I am so excited to get them into it!

I have put it on two peices of plywood which I have covered with a shower curtain and some adhesive floor tiles.

Now.....

Do lay down towels and fleece then pooh pick daily and change towels and fleece every few days/weekly?

Do I need to use any newspaper?

Also I am worried about them climbing over the grids... I do have and have used correx on the floor of the hay loft but am thinking I could use some on top of the grids to give it a little extra height.

I am just wondering as it's all coming together if anyone has any do's or don'ts......
Thanks :)

Hi,

I use towels and fleece, and I just use two layers of towels and a layer of fleece works well, I spot clean with a cat scoop everyday and change every three to fours days if they use a littertray:)

They shouldn't be able to climb over the grids, they are not good climbers but I have seen them jump quite high!

Ok great; what do you use underneath? Have you got correx?

I looked through all of the pix of C&C grid cages and most of them are only one grid high. What worries me is little Oscar! Alan would never get over it but Oscar climbs onto the top of things so I worry he'll be able to get out somehow. I think also because it's so close to the floor it looks lower. I'm sure once I get them in they'll look taller! :))

Thanks! :)

I have outside hutches so slightly different, but you can use them on top of correx as it is waterproof:)

I have never had a c&c cage but they are really nice and if I had a spare room I would have a huge one:))

He shouldn't climb out if they are the standard height:)

that sounds like an amazing set up. I have c&c as a play area for mine. They never try to climb it. I put down fleece blankets you can buy them in the works for £2.99 or they have them in premark selling them off at £2 or wiko kiddy fleece they are called £3. I make and sell things as you may know. I call myself Bex pets.

Haha-I know they're addictive! I have only had the piggles under a year and they have had 3 new cages already.

This one takes up a quarter of my spare room so it's safe to say they are slowly taking over! Hehe. xx

I know a lot of people use C+C cages without problems of guinea pigs jumping out of it but Lily 74 is right - they can jump quite high - when I was bathing Ollie he jumped out of the sink - luckily I caught him in mid air. It was a proper flying leap for freedom.

Oh my God, that was lucky! I wouldn't put that past Oscar. Alan is far too laid back but Oscar is a loon! I just had to secure the side of the ramp as he wouldhave just chucked himself down from the hay loft! {:|
