I am planning on making a 5x3 house for my boys but the only size correx I can find is 4x2 how do you join the correx to prevent leakage etc?

ignore that the sheets are actually 8x4 but in metric duh

Now a real question which thickness do you use?

OK so an 8x4 sheet 4mm thick hubbie wants to know how easy it is to cut and how do you make the ridge bit that is inside the cage if that makes sense lol

I said score and bend the correx but he thinks it will break and leave gap, how have you guys found it is it easy to cut and score?

I found it fairly easy to score and bend the correx, I used a craft knife and adjusted the blade so that only the point was exposed and just cut through the first layer of the corrugated plastic and leaving the other layer intact-if that makes sense! Ours was 4mm thick too.

4mm is about the best thickness. I was impatient last time and wanted to get my cage built so I just bought 2mm stuff from Travis Perkins. It does the job OK but I can see that it probably won't last as long as the 4mm stuff.

Use scissors or (as above) a craft knife to score the correx and just make sure you don't push too hard or else you will cut right through. But it's easy enough to score, bend and stick (with a bit of duck tape). There are some great instructions on exactly how to do your measurements on Guinea Pig Cages http://http://www.guineapigcages.com/howto.htm.

Hi,

I have always used the 4mm Correx too. I think the 2mm will be too flimsy. I have used smaller pieces of correx and taped them with duck tape to make a big enough liner. I also use a knife (Stanley knife) with just a few mm of the blade exposed and score the correx using a metal ruler. I cut an extra "tab" for the corners, which i just bent round and tape in place.
Helen.
