Hi, I'm going to be building a new C&C house for my buns & I was wondering if it's ok to build a piggie house/run on top of the buns?

They wouldn't interact or even see each other because the piggie house would be lined with correx - but I wasn't sure if it's ok to house them so close together?

*I don't have any piggies yet but am considering adopting a couple & am thinking about accommodation for them x)

Thanks
Mel

It's absolutely fine. Rabbits and guinea pigs should in theory never be allowed to touch or share the same bedding etc. There's a risk that they could catch 'stuff' from eachother (sorry can't remember the name of the infection!)
I know people will say 'well I had a guinea pig and rabbit play together and they were fine' - not saying it's common but not worth the risk.

This is how I keep my rabbits and pigs - my rabbits are free range but have a dog crate (48 inches) as a base.

What a wonderful hutch!
It just looks awesome!

That's a nice setup Hanna :)

Thanks for the advice everyone, it's good to know they can be housed close as it'll save me a lot of space - & I don't really want to lose any floorspace from the bunnies to the piggies :))

I'll make sure they won't be interacting as I'm aware of the dangers of putting buns & pigs together.

Thanks :)
Mel
