Just got back from Dunelm Mill and they had velcro straps ( the type that could very well be used to secure grids to each other ) Packs of 12 for 74p! I figure they'll save money on cable ties! Don't know how strong they will be but for areas that are supported or not having to bear any weight they would be perfect!
