Hi

Now the 3 girls have arrived I am definately going to build a C&C cage. I have done the horrible maths and worked out a 4grid by 3 grid set up would give them the most room (cannot cope with why a 4 x 3 gives more room than a 5 x 2 but will bow to the maths!).

Anway, I am planning ahead a little and want to build the C&C big enough that if in the future I want to rehome a neutured boar with my three girls that the cage will give them all plenty of room.

How big should I make the cage (in grids) to make sure there is plenty of room if I wanted to add a boar with the 3 girls? I'm sure I have read that a boar needs more room than a girl. I want to make sure that there is plenty of room if I want to adopt from a rescue in the future.

Any advice gratefully received.

4 x 3 is 16 square feet... the recommended size is 13 square feet so that would be big enough!

I'm not good at maths either but: 4x3 = 12 ( squares of floor space)

5x2=10 ( squares of floor space)

Think of it like that and it's easier, I think rolleyes

I think 2x6 or an alternative (e.g. 3x4) would be ideal. I have 2 pigs kept in a 2x5 and it would be a little too small for 4 pigs.

Re boars needing more space, it applies to groups of boys but not to one neutered boy living with sows...you can treat the boy as just another girl then. :)
