Hi all, :)p

Just after some advice. I currently have a hutch in which i have 3 boars.
But ive just got a new baby boar which i will be introducing shortly and so i want to extend the hutch using a c&c cage.

I already have the cubes, but having some problems.
The trouble is that, the cubes are too low, and dont allow space for me to open the hutch door, the second level would also be too low as well for the pigs to reach.

I basically need something that i can put underneath the C&C which will raise it by about an inch, but i have no idea what to do this with!?

I would appreciate any ideas because i cant introduce my fourth boar until its sorted.

(i dont want to get rid of the hutch either as my dad built it me only a few weeks ago and it took him ages - he would kill me if i got rid of it)

Thanks :)

You could attach (cable tie) the grids to some wood batons if your dad has any around that would raise it up for you.

That's great that your extending your cage - for 3 boars to get on for the long term you really need a pretty huge cage! They might get on with the baby boar now in a smaller space but when he hits maturity it may be a completely different matter!

I used bricks to raise the table under my C&C, that's probably 1-2inches tall? :)

Oh yeah thats quite a good idea.
Yeah, well I'm hoping to split them into 2 groups of 2, because one of boars is very scared of another boar i have at the moment!

could you post pic of your hutch to give us a better idea of what it looks like? also how big is the hutch you already have? and then we can advise you by how much you need to extend. Splitting the boars into two groups of two is a great idea they seem to get on best as pairs! :)

Hi, i dont have a picture at the moment but i could easily describe.

The current set up as a follows, the hutch is attatched to a C&C cage of 2X4 grids, for the 3 piggies, it is also a double tier hutch. The size of the hutch would make it in C&C standards approx 2 X5 if not slightly bigger.

What i want instead is to seperate the boars into groups of 2, with on the 2 levels, both with C&C cage attached of 2X3 grids, which would make the space appromixately 2X4 grids per pair.

This would be bigger enough wouldn't it?
