I ordered another 3x2 C&C cage this morning. This means that the current cage will become an 8x2.

Measurements indicate that it will take up the entire back room wall. For 3 piggies when they are introduced. (I'm running virtual bets if I increase the size of the herd or not).

My OH is currently planning on building another table to put it on as the one the 5x2 is on is not long enough and the overhang will be too big. Not all grids will be used so I will have several spare so I'm happy with that. It will take 2 fleeces and a whole lot more toys!
 
Oooh, exciting stuff! We are extending ours next week to add I think another 2x3 perhaps 2x4 making it a 2x9.

Nope, well until the cage is a size I'm happy with. The main problem is I have just seen a little tan and white Rex female in P&H whilst getting hay cookies who had just the sweetest personality you could imagine!

He is just as bad with them as I am to be honest.

How many piggies could fit comfortably in a 8x2 C&C cage? 4?
 
I would say a 2x8 would fit 4-5 comfortably. The minimum recommendation for 4 is a 2x6.
 
I'd take that bet if the odd are good :whistle:

At the moment it sounds like you're odd's on favourite to be adding to it :))

Actually, talking of hay cookies, I wanted to ask- can you really use them as your pig's only source of hay? And do you find them a bit crumbly?
Anyway:btt: pet stores are a nightmare, too many sweet animals!
 
Very crumbly. Hay cookies that is, not baby piggies.

I use hay cookies in addition to the normal hay. Gives variety. And a bigger mess to the fleece.
 
Yeah, they have tons of hay (all over the cage. Racks are meant to be tidier!) but they seem to quite like their cookies. And be careful in pet shops, or you'll never stop getting pigs:))
 
I see that the 8 x 2 would be ok for 4 or 5 guinea pigs ... 5 hey. Careful!
 
Flower fairy, 4 is my maximum. Yes, I have said that before but it really is. The cage will be big enough to divide if there are fallouts and I also will have the pen and the hospital cage (currently Snowy's cage) as back up.

I like variety with hay, so I feed the cookies in addition to hay.
 
You are wise to have a set maximum. I am sticking with two (coming mid feb). Any more is poo overload! Also with 5 hamster set ups to find room for one guineapig set up will do me just fine.

I have to stick with the one piggie: Oreo and my fluff baby (AKA hamster) Larry-Jasper :(. I want more lol
