Hi forum, does anyone have any advice on how to build a C&C cage for an adolescent boar who loves to climb and jump? He loves to clamber up my arm and sit on my neck - and he escaped through his hay rack by taking a running jump at it the other day. ?/

p.s. I prefer the open-roofed and open-plan designs, for ease of retrieving the piggy and cleaning purposes...

Also - can you house piggies indoors year-round, as me and my family are in love with our new friend, and want to observe and interact with him lots. If so, what size should I be looking at to permanently house 2 pigs? I have no facility for floor-time, so the C&C build would have to include their permanent excercise area.

All advice and comments much appreciated!

If you don't have anything or him to climb on to the sides, would he still be able to get out? Maybe put the hay rack on the back wall and make the wall 2 grids high?

Of course you can keep them indoors year-round. It's actually recommended.

If you don't have space for floor-time, I would recommend building the cage as big as you can. For two boars, start with 2x5 grids. I have 2 pairs of boars in 2x7 cage for each pair. Some people have 3x6 or 4x5 cage for their pair.

Thank you guys, I've found a picture of a set up which I like, but wasn't sure it'd be suitable for 2 piggies permanently. It's a 2x5 with a 2x2 mezzanine floor at one end. Obviously I wan't to have a largest run possible, unobstructed if possible, so could do with a mezzanine for sleeping/feeding area (at least that's what I intend to do, what the piggies will actually do is up to them I guess! :rose )
