I'm thinking of moving my piggies inside and into a C&C cage however I have a 2 and a half year old who is very inquisitive and I'd be worried about her getting into the cage. Should I think about building a lid? I'd really like an open cage but not sure if this is possible.

Has anybody on here had a C&C cage with young children and if so how did it go?

I don't have any children but my niece loves to come and visit the pigs. She is in to everything but is really gentle around the pigs and has never tried to climb into the cage.

Maybe place it on the table?
A cage on the table would make the pigs feel much more secured.

Yeah, plenty of people build them on tables (of whatever height suits you) or just use extra grids to raise the cage up (along with wooden struts for extra support).

I'd also be inclined to teach your daughter about the guinea pigs and make sure it's understood that she shouldn't go in the cage because it will upset the pigs and if she wants to interact with them she should ask you first.

I have a C+C cage and a 2.5 year old daughter who loves her 'Bimby pigs', My dad built me a table for the cage so it's a height at which she has to be lifted up to see in and we haven't had any problems. HTH
