hi, this may be a silly question ! i hear i lot of people on here talk about c&c cages, what are they ? many thanks

This is C & C.

You get the base from sign shops and other online websites, Grids can also be found online.

Its the best type of cage you can get it is so simple to make and very cheap and the best thing about it is you can change it when it suits you.you can buy the Correx from MDP supplies online just google it or it may be under Mulberry desighn and print. and the cubes from Wickes. If you go onto youtube there is a lady called piggypigpigs she has a awesome C+C cage Just type in C+C cage she will be there somewhere at the top of the list have a look at some of the other great ideas but i can guarantee you this.Even if you build your pig a small 2x3 it will be the quater of the price of the biggest pet shop cage we could find and probably the same size if not bigger.

I Love my C+C cage and i bet everybody else on here does aswell if your interested in building one then try www.piggyparadise.co.uk where the very lovely vicky will be more than happy to help :-)

thats great info thankyou ! could i just ask what the cubes are called at wickes - I'm looking on their website but dont know how to find the grids ! just want to try price some up. many thanks once more

yep its called a cube storage unit £15 but if you order over £45 you get free delivery you get 16 grids in each box.and theye are the mesh ones with the holes closer together which to me personally i think is a lot better.but that is because of less mess and i have baby pigs aswell.but then i prefer the easy option of mesh rather that making the correx sides higher round the cage.
if you only want a couple again ask Vicky at www.piggyparadise.co.uk i think she will sell them to you for between £1 - £1.50 each

I'm Popping To Wickes To Do This Aswell ... To Give Them More Room ... But What Would I Use as a Base?

We have a sticky in the housing section about C&C cages and all you need to know. You can have a look in our hutch/cage gallery for inspiration (best start from the end).

C&C cages are a lot cheaper than most conventional cages and allow you to adapt them to your personal needs. You can also enlarge them anytime you want to!

This is ours when it was first made:

and in progress so you can see the structure:

It's been slightly changed in that the top floor is a hay loft now :)

thats great rachael ! that is just what i want :) could i ask how you got the hay loft bit to support ? do you have to use more grids underneath then add the correx ? also i notice that the correx has sides on it, do you have to cut seperate pieces and stick them on or can they be scored and bent up ? also what is your little ladder made of ? and lastly - do you make the cage before the floor or the other way around ? phew - sorry for all questions but I'm not the brightest button in the box when it comes to figuring things out ! :))

My hubby made the floor first, you can just score it and bend the sides which is what we did. We then put the grids together but used cable ties instead of the connectors that came with the grids. The grids/frame (including the hay loft) lift completely off the correx so it's easy to get in and clean. The ladder is just another grid with carpet stuck onto it, it's attached at the top to the second floor.

The top floor is again just grids connected with cable ties. Lots of cable ties :)

If you measure properly then it shouldn't matter what you make first. Remember, measure twice, cut once!

Acctually really annoyed ... the closest b&q to me dont stock the storage cubes even though when i phoned up they did, non of the wickes stores within 30miles of me had any and there web site said i could order 2 but when it came to it they didnt have any left or then randomly there would be one but then disapear again?!?!?!

So I'm going to go one step further and build one my self :))
Not sure how well this will go but I'm going to try my hardest, already built the base which has seemed to come out ok .. now for th hard bit!

Wish me luck! (gonna need it) :{

http://www.kreshay.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=56

Kreshay Impex do a 4 cube unit (17 panels and 20 connectors) for £14.85 with only £5 p&P no matter how many packs you order!
It is called the SEVILLE cube mesh & grid system.
This is by FAR THE CHEAPEST for the cube system anywhere online, even ebay. The P&P alone makes it worthwhile buying a few sets.

DisplaySense do indivudual connectors for 60-70p BUT there is a minimum order value of £25 so its pointless unless you are ordering other stuff.

I've not been able to find individual or small packs of connectors anywhere else and I've been looking all day online.

Hope that helps someone!

I had that problem with wickes in the end i did it online i always order more than 3 boxes to get the free delivery and theye are very quick aswell and best of all when theye deliver theye give you a hour timeslot so you only have to wait in for 1 whole hour x

You're going to make the cubes yourself? Wow! I hope those boys appreciate the work you'll have gone to for their little furry butts :))

Good luck with it.

Haaa .. No Not The Cubes ... That Would Have Been a Disaster! But Its Going To Be The Same Idea As a C&C Cage ... As In Its Shape And Design Wise, Sort Of Like an Outdoor Run but Not With The Roof etc... But Ive Never Built Anything Like This Before (Never Built Anything Before) :...

Almost completed ... should bee done by 2mora evening! Its Not Amazing but I'm really proud of myself just for getting this far :)

Here We Are, All Finished! :(|)

That is an interesting new idea. It is like a cross between a C & C cage and a mesh run. It looks very effective. Well done.

Thank you! I love the idea of a c&c cage but couldnt find anywhere that sold the cubes.

So i went to the next step and built one from scratch, daisy LOVES running up and down the ramps, which makes all that effort worth while! :)
