I got my piggie a c&c cage and the size is great, he's loving the space for running about. Apparently though he is also loving the correx plastic and has already started chewing it! Has anyone else's piggies done that and how do you stop it?! :(

If you use fleece, you could try pulling the edges of the fleece over the plastic and tucking them between the plastic and the cubes so all of the plastic is covered and your piggie can't get to it.
If you use shavings, try giving him more things to chew on (such as wood chews) if he doesn't have a lot already. Whether you use fleece or shavings you could try this to see if it helps.
If neither thing works then I would recommend maybe waiting for another reply. I can't really think if much else! Sorry!

I'm using finacard and all his houses and tunnels are edible as well as toys. I may have to switch to fleece if he doesn't stop :/ I've just tried putting tape at either end where the correx has been cut, so hopefully he won't like the glossy texture now.

I don't use fleece but I have clipped some on to my correx around the bits my boys chew. It seems to have worked well. I'd be cautious of tape - my boys (or at least one of them) seems to love duct tape to the point he managed to get at some on the outside of the cage! Admittedly there's never been any adverse side effects as a result of the tape munching but I can't imagine it's particularly healthy!

Another option I've heard of is using the long binders clips that you can get to bind a load of papers together (sorry I have absolutely no idea what they're called).

I've changed over to fleece . I still have correx underneath but don't have sides any more - all the correx is covered by fleece so the GPs don't get at it to nibble.

When I did have correx sides, I used to clip bits of wood onto it using fold back clips. Max is modelling this set up in the picture below.

Thanks for the suggestions, he seems to have behaved during the night after I taped the sides. I don't want him to eat the tape and was gonna try something else/ fleece if he started eating it as well- I don't think him eating the plastic is any better though :(

Generally, they'll chew one or two places but the novelty usually wears off eventually.

I have used plastic binder clips to stop them chewing.

I use plastic strips called finishing profiles available from b&q. I drill holes in longer side and make holes in correx with a carpenters awl and cable tie on :

I'm happy to hear there is hope and solutions out there, in case he picks up this naughty habit again!

ah your all so clever with your binder edging clip things! When my nemmy was chewing too much i took a naughty chance and put a tiny dab of marmite on the bit he liked to chew, it worked and I've not had to do it again since thankfully. He has the odd nibble now and then but he's no where near as destructive as he used to be. Now he just reaches through the divide and steals colossus's newspaper and hay lol
