So I am currently researching C&C cages.
It has become blatantly clear that our planned outdoor piggies will be remaining indoors, and so we need a more appropriate housing solution for them.

A C&C (or equivalent if I can source some grids locally) seems to be the best option, but I am working with a fixed space.
We can't fit a 5 x 2 but we can fit a 3 x 4 in the area I have in mind.

They are currently in a double level hutch and they love their ramp and having 2 separate areas to use, so I am keen to add a loft to the C&C.
My question is, does anyone have a 3 x 1 loft?
And does this work ok?
Is it even possible to support a 3 x 1 loft?

And does a 3 x 4 C&C with a 3 x 1 loft for 3 piggies (2 sows and a neutered boar) sound ok?
Obviously they would still have regular lap time year round, and a combination of floor or grass time depending on the weather.

Input gratefully received before I go and start actually buying stuff!

Maybe you could add two grids underneath each of the loft squares but leave them detachable so you could still put in your fleece bedding or take them out for cleaning and just leave them most of the time as extra support. I know others use plywood as a base so that is another option (plywood base for the loft) and then just make sure you zip tie the grids together just to be sure they don't fall down.

I have a 3x7 cage with a 3x1 loft (not using the loft at the moment but will be again shortly)
I use one grid underneath the middle loft grid to stop it collapsing. I use the plastic connecters to hold the grids together but cable ties would work too

I have a 3x4 with a 4x1 loft with a ramp at each end. It allows me to convert it into 2x 3x2 pens.
