Hi,
Still working out the best layout for my c & c cage. I have made a separate hay box at one end with extra Correx. Is it ok to do the same thing at the other end for sleeping area which would be fleece lined? The hay box is 2x2, the fleecy sleeping area would be 2x4 leaving a central area for food and play of 2x2, all accessible by a door cut into the Correx wall dividing each section. I have also made a 'bunk bed' arrangement so they have an 'upstairs' too. I haven't done it yet, still in the planning stage! I am trying to make cleaning the cage as easy as possible and stopping the spread of hay/other bedding onto the fleece. Not sure if it's better that they have the run of a large floor area rather then separate areas? I have 3 sows, 12 weeks old. Any advice appreciated!

I keep the hay down one end in litter trays but they still manage to drag it onto the other Fleece areas! Personally I prefer to give them as unhindered a movement area as possible for exercise purposes so don't divide the cage up into sections, but I do keep the beds to the other end. Having said that mine take great delight in rearranging the cage - my boar shoulders things out of his way and drags them to other areas! There are numerous pictures of c and c cage layouts on the forum and on other sites too. You just have to try out an arrangement and see if it works for you sand your piggies.

I have litter trays at one e end and their hideys at the other but they often drag them round the cage. You could make the dour of the hay rom slightly higher and put ramps on to try and keep the hay in.I have fleece everette other than the litter trays

I wouldnt make a separate sleeping area as guineas often like a mad dash time and like big space to run round I would just do a hay section

Yes, have just witnessed the mad dash when I got home tonight! Quite something! I will keep it open to give them lots of space. I've put the hidey houses in the upstairs bunk too to extend the run downstairs. They're liking it so far :-)

Fab news that they like It I usually witness the dash at least once a day although older pigs are a bit lazier and dont do it so much

I love how pigs are indiviudal. I have one whos mever done a dash but she will lie down in the litter tray whilst eating hay she is so lazy lol
