I want to make my 2 young boys a C&C cage, so how many packs of grids will I need to make a suitable size cage for them? and wheres the best place to get them from? Also is there any alternative to correx as it seems to be very hard to come by?

The min for 2 boys would be a 2x4 which is 12 grids :) you can get ready made packs for a whole set up. I get mine from a guy called AL on ebay and a 2x4 with the correx base only cost me 32.00 :) he is a great trustworthy guy too! I ordered a 2x1 loft with correx too later on and it was only 10.99

wow I wish id known about that ebay one I got mine as a complete set up from http://www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk/ I got a 4 x 2 and a 2 x 1 loft from here. I have since ordered extra grids off of ebay and correx small sheets to extend the loft its now a 3 x 1 Lshape but I want extend it all the way along using half grids along the edge and have a 2 x1 on each end of the cage

They are good and well known but expensive. There is another seller on Ebay called "Grendle" but he does not include the correx...ive now ended up with a 6x2 with 2 2x1 lofts WITH ramps WITH correx included and it cost me a total of 80.00 :)

crikey that is a good price I think my 4 x 2 with the loft and postage included came to just over £100 :(

everything ie correx and ramp was also included in that price as well

I was upset with the company you used as before i got my lofts I emailed them and asked how much a loft would be. I got an email back saying as I was not a past customer they do not sell sep bits to people who had not ordered before. Frankly I gave my money to someone else then AND got it cheaper! Kinda rude IMO

wow thats so much cheaper than I thought it would be! Will definatly order some when I get paid next week :D

If you are making a 4x2 I would recommend making a base as well for stability & essential if you don't want it on the floor. So you would need 20 grids in total :) Youcan then make a correx tray to pop inside it.

that was rather rude of them . you would have thought they would be grateful for the business whether you were a past customer or not

I didnt make a base just connectors and tag ties then the correx box sits inside it is solid

I'll probably have it on top of a table or something so i can store stuff underneath to save space in my tiny room, so I'm probably better off buying the pack of grids and building my own one

You would be better off using grids to make a bottom as well then :) Some people even use grids underneath for storage; I haven't enough to do that but it sure looks neat when they do :)
