Hey everyone..

I'm hoping to get a c&c cage over the next few days for my little Rocco and our new arrival :)) just doing some research and wondered if anyone could give me some feedback.
Just general things like would you recommend them and mostly what kind of bedding can I use? I've heard that these type of cages are prone to smelling pretty bad is this true?
Also I'd prefer to use woodshavings is this recommended for a c&c cage.

I just want to be sure I'm getting the right type of cage because its such a big expense!

Thanks for any feedback!

Hi there! It's always nice to see someone looking at guinea pigs needs :D

I very much recommend c&c cages! I love them and have used them for at least a year. By the sound of it, you will have two piggies? Two guinea pigs need the minimum of a cage of 2x4 grids, but as always bigger is always better. Where are you? It would be handy if you could put your location (personal details then location to add it) so we know where and what things you can go to and/or buy. I'm switching between easibed and snowflake wood shavings at the moment. In the pictures under, it will show my 2x7 filled with easibed with three piggies.

The correx needs replacing, so please ignore that. What bedding you use depends in what you can afford and how much time you have, as fleece and vetbed is time consuming but good to piggies feet and they normally like it in general while disposable bedding can be more money consuming having to replace it often. The cage smelling bad all depends on what you use and how you use bedding as well as how often you clean them out :)

Hello,

I got a c&c cage a few weeks ago and it was the best decision I made, I use fleece bedding with a absorbent layer underneath and I don't think it smells whatsoever :D. I clean their poops everyday and usually change the layer underneath the fleece maybe every 2-3 day and wash their fleece once a week, I have had no problems so far.

I was in two minds whether to get one as they are pricey, but it's definitely worth :D

This is my c&c cage,

Thanks for the quick replies and the great advice! I love those cages they both look amazing!
I'll have two piggies in the cage..just have the one at the moment though, very excited to get him a new little buddy! I'm thinking about 2x5 just so they have plenty of space..it's pricey but I'm hoping it'll be worth it in the long run.

I've never really considered fleece as an option but I'll definitely look into it, there's so much to think about and I want them to be as happy as possible!

I've also updated my location details :) thanks again!

Great, it's lovely to see you do this for the piggies! Would you mind me asking where you're getting your cage from? Just to add, c&c cages have worked out great for a mass of people. Some have been disappointed with their ones, but hopefully you will love yours.

I don't use fleece anymore, but if you would like a really detailed version of fleece, click here. It has a lot of detail on it, but if you'd prefer a simplified version, I'm sure if you poke around on here you'll find one or an user will kindly provide advice :D

It's impossible to get one here in Ireland. I found a place c&c cages UK. I'm hoping that they deliver here, I emailed them on Friday and just waiting for a reply hopefully I'll hear back tomorrow. I considered making my own but again materials are proving difficult to get so I'm thinking it might just be easier to buy one online!

Can you find dog playpen like this? You can you them if the spacing between the bars are no larger than 3.8cm.

If you can't find correx, you can line the floor with shower curtain to protect the floor.

Hello, we think c&c cages are brill, they're very customisable, and smell no more than a hutch or other cage. All beddings can be used in c&c cages, have you looked in our beddings overview thread? :)

I love my C&C cage! I've come to stay with my parents for a couple of weeks, and it was so easy to fold up and transport.
I use fleece, with puppy pads and a cloth on top for their toilet area. They also use a little tray full of hay for a toilet. It takes me 5 minutes in the morning and night to poo pick, remove wet pads, replace, then feed and water them. Twice a week I do a full fleece change. I haven't noticed a smell, and no one who has visited has either thankfully! I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to shavings or anything. Fleece all the way for me :)

Have you checked eBay,,, type in wire grid storage system, that's where I got my grids for my c&c from. £20 for 30!

What beautiful piggies and cage! Mind me asking what the divider bit in the middle is made of? (Goodness, I'm spamming the thread now with off topic questions )

i highly recommend c&c cages aswell. they don't smell either. if anything, they get better air flow because they're more open.

you can use whichever bedding you like in them. i sometimes use fitch and sometimes fleece, or both! i've recently ordered a cage liner aswell so looking forward to trying that :)

Thank you! Hehe well at least it's all cage related! It's just a piece of conti board from B&Q same as sides and back are made of. It was divided all down the middle when I had to seperate 2 of them and now I can't get that piece off as used no more nails glue argh!

It's a long story. I had 2 of them in a store bought cage temporarily and was worried about negative comments so kinda just ommitted them from videos and conversations until I had the C&C sorted! :/
