I ordered materials to make a new C&C cage for my 2 boys today :) I will be making a 2x4 with a 1x2 loft. I will have enough grids left to extend to a 2x5 if necessary but they get on pretty well at the moment. They are in a ferplast cage (120 I believe) at present, and they don't fight or anything so hopefully the 2x4 will be plenty of room.

I just wanted to share my excitement with you all! :D

That is so cool, C&C cages are really food to design ,make and accessorise. I bet the boys are going to love it. Please remember to take photos when you make it, looking forward to seeing it. Are you buying a kit or making it from scratch? We bought a kit as I am so useless at DIY, luckily I am a rarity in a male that knows this and doesn't destroy the house attempting projects

I've just ordered grids and coroplast from ebay because it was cheaper - scoring the coroplast will be the most difficult bit I think. Trying to persuade my dad to help me haha.

I know how you feel Helloitsbecca.....

My C&C cage came today, but I can't build it yet as I have to get wood for the base as it overlaps my table. The wood will have to be delivered as its too long for my car...I have a Smart!

I know exactly how you feel. I'm hoping the coroplast will fit in my fiat 500 as I am getting it delivered to work. The struggle of small cars! Hope your wood comes soon :)

I have a 5x2 C&C and the box it came in was half the size as the coroplast was bent in half.

Ok I couldn't resist and I have built the cage just to see it and it makes my cage look so tiny but I still need the wood. I also need to cable tie the top of the grids and half way down for added strength.

I saw it on the homemade c&c cage thread! It looks great :D

I am in awe of Handymen.... that sounds odd, let me rephrase. I am in awe of men who can use tools. Actually that sounds no better :))

Ha ha ha...using tools isn't easy

Depends on what tool they are using

My Brother once let me use a electric tile cutter, it was a very big moment. He soon took it off me, I was 28 at the time..

P.S I think you have the best avatar on here. Love Bones

Thank you. I like Star Trek but I'm a huuuuge fan of Deforest Kelly, so much so that I have seen all of his films. Karl Urban is pretty good as McCoy as well.

Where did you buy the c and c grids? I can only see them on ebay for around 50 pounds ...

That comes to nearly seventy pounds ... there must be a cheaper way to get grids, surely?

I got them on ebay - it was 39.99 for the ones I got. I got other cubes that arent grids (they have a sheet of plastic where the grids should be) to use for the bottom, to make a stand with and for one of the sides - the side nearest the window to eliminate draughts - so i could also make a loft with the regular grids. The 39.99 ones would make a 2x4 cage and possibly a stand for it but no loft. The coroplast I got was 14.99 for 2 sheets or 10.99 for the one. I tried to look for the email to give you the sellers names but I deleted it since they arrived safely and I had checked out as a guest. Sorry!

Where did you get your cubes? Can find the metal ones anywhere, only the frosted ones on eBay.

Ebay - I can't remember the seller and have trashed the email :( the ones I got were £39.99 and were enough to make a 4x2 with some left over. I tried to look for you but can't find them now. As I wanted a loft, I also got some of the frosted ones, so I used them to make a base and the bottom layer and for the small side nearest the door to avoid draughts, so that I could save some of the grid ones to build the loft. I would say the frosted ones are fine to make a cage with if it's only 1 level you are looking to make. Plus they are really cheap. Apparently the website Wayfair has the metal grids. Sorry I can't help more!
