Here i am again with a question.
My cage just arrived (or well i just arrived home and found my cage lol)
Now I've been told you're not supposed to put cages on the floor ? At least on a 20cm height ? But I have a c&c cage that only goes round (So no grid beneath only around). It seems virtually impossible to not have the cage on the floor.
But when I scroll through other peoples c&c cages, these tend to be on the floor as well. Is it not a problem them ? I'm very confused on the matter.
Love!

Mine is on the floor. It has a correx base though. Maybe they mean it shouldn't *just* be on the floor, that there should be some kind of water tight base?
I don't have an issue with the cage on the floor, but I would prefer mine on a table so I could store all their 'stuff' underneith it rather than around it!

my bottom stacking c and c cage has correx base but is sat on the floor.the cage can be viewed on the web site c and c cages uk.:)

I had a cage on the floor and i don't see why not to put it on the floor! The problem was is that the hay kept spilling out and you would see lots of pieces all over the floor which is quite annoying and you would end up hoovering the floor every day. To avoid that, try to keep the hay somewhere where its not gonna go all over the floor! I liked them on the floor mainly because for floor time, the piggies can go back in the cage whenever they want and it was so much easier to get the back into the cage!

I have a c&c cage with correx base as well! though I might put a cheap shower curtain underneath... It's L shaped and where it makes the L connects itt's not perfect. I'm afraid this will cause a lot of spilling. Might look into something see through so i can do it over the entire lenght

Yeah I think @Claire W has it re mostly being advice for those living in hutches. For smaller rodents low cages with shallow bases being on the floor can be very drafty. However modern cages usually have deeper bases, so even that's not relevant!

We also have our C and C cage on the floor, it's a wooden floor. I did read somewhere that the correx can 'sweat' if directly on a wooden floor so I have it on a rug.

I'm sure I read it's because it sweats as well. I bought a cheap rug from homesense and put it underneath, as it's flipping cold on our draughty floorboards. I wear slippers in the summer! I'd put something underneath anyway like a towel to protect your carpet in case of any wee leakage out of corners of correx.

I put some see through tarp underneath it for now but i might end up putting their little fleecy blankets underneath it when my snuggle bags finally arrive!

I'm no scientist but I suspect cold air from the floor meeting warm air from toasty fleeced lined correx. Cold air warming up a bit and turning to moisture and then being trapped, so it's good to have have a gap or something to absorb. Thinking about it it's probably more a problem for someone like me with seriously drafty cold floorboards. But I just do because the floors like an ice cube. Could b totally wrong though...

I'm going to extend the cage in to a 7x2 C&C in the near future, so I am happy to put puppy pads underneath. The cage is on a board (chipboard) on a table, so it's not on the floor.

I need to contact the company for 6 grids and the Correx base...
