Hi everyone!

I recently moved my pigs onto vetbed. Having some smell problems at the moment, but seeing if I can resolve this! I change the bed every 3 days, and put puppy pads underneath and used a towel the first time. The second time , I didnt put the towel down, so I am wondering whether this is causing it too pong a bit more.

BUT. I am increasingly getting more and more interested and curious about these C&C cages? I think they look awesome. I currently have this cage for my pigs, got it from Pets At Home.
The stairs in this cage looks far too steep for the piglets, so I made some steps and they seem more comfortable using them. Have put carpet on it too so they can grip more.

But I am thinking, it's just so annoying to clean out, I have to take it apart and it's so hard to get to the girlies. I wonder if a C&C would be better.

So, was wondering can anyone help me with basically where to start? I've tried looking online but it takes me to USA sites and I really have no idea where to look and build from there.

I'd be so grateful and apologies if a thread is already on here like this, I do try to look first !

Search "c&c" on ebay. The first result will be a seller called also_grendle. I got a set up from there because I wanted the black grids which are slightly more expensive than white ones. You will need to buy the corre separetly but it comes with connectors and cable ties. It doesn't come with any instructions but I'd be happy to help out if you have any questions. I could also pm you a copy of some instructions for making cubes from it which will help if you haven't done it before.

I've also bought white grids from superbargains on ebay. It was fairly recently and they cost around £30. The price hike sounds a bit scary!

I got my correx from thealuminiumshop on ebay. £14 for 3 sheets - 2mm ones.

Piggysmitten, that would be fab! That would be a big help. I was having a gander at some online, and saw some cubes but they seem to have plastic part on the inside of it, so the woodshavings couldnt fall out, or the piggies couldnt bite anything. Not sure where I'd get them from?

I'll have a look on ebay now for that seller. Really want to get with c&c now haha! Exciting times :P

Just had a look, it's the plastic inserts which go at the bottom but come up at the sides, cant seem to find any on amazon, just the base of the floor - correx.

Does anyone have this plastic insert or no where to get them from?

Thanks everyone!

I've seen the plastic cubes you mean. Some do use those. They work in the same way and you can mix them with grids. I think you'll still need some sort of base like correx if you are using woodshavings or similar. They would still get out through small gaps. I'll have a look too - I've seen them sold as coloured cage set ups.

Really happy to help you when you come to build. I love our c&c set up best of all.

On a separate note, and I confess I haven't used it in a c&c cage because I use fleece in ours but I do use it in a commercial ferplast cage (like the one in your picture) and in a hutch (we have three groups of piggies), can I recommend Fitch bedding to you? It's a recycled paper bedding. It's very absorbent like wood shavings but a disadvantage of wood shavings is that they can dry out your piggies feet (the wood "pulls" the oils from their feet) - I did notice a big improvement in the feet of our piggies when I switched. Another issue, which I didn't have, was that wood shavings can irritate piggies respiratory system apparently. Don't get me wrong, a good number of people do use wood shavings and are happy with them. I just though I'd mention it in case you hadn't heard of Fitch or other alternatives.

Do you mean the tray/ box that sits inside the grids? If so that is correx, it comes in a big sheet to be scored and cut into the box shape - I got mine from a local sign maker for about £10 for an 8X4 sheet - or theres a company called tea crate packaging that sells thin black sheets that are cheaper :)
There are some grids here at a good price: http://www.superbargainuk.com/Produ...ugh-Grid-Set-System-Modular-Design-White.aspx

Oh yes - that probably is what you meant - on the also_grendle pictures they are yellow or red. That is correx. It's easy to score - just don't press too hard or you will cut right through.

I also found these in case it was "solid" grids rather than mesh ones you were thinking of. You just need to ensure sufficient air circulation if you use these.

If you are not having your cage on a stand, you don't need grids underneath the correx (as a floor) you only need them round the sides. If you've got other pets or children is highly recommend a stand. Ours is made from more grids.

I don't why the price has gone up over £10. Ridiculous.
I think it's supply vs demand. The superbargain white ones I bought I noticed when they arrived had been imported by Costco. I remember seeing postings on the forum when Costco had some in stock. That seems to happen only every now and then. When they do, presumably price is cheaper for us all.

I am glad I got mine when they were cheaper. Lol. Hope you manage to get all the things you need for your new c&c cage.

check Costco! I got my last batch of grids from there for £18! Again in more than happy to help you with building and advice and ideas feel fre to inbox me :) I love my c&c cage and will be updating it in the next month or two

I use the ones with plastic and dirt cheap.vanhous interlocking storage on ebay.I don't use correx, have a ground sheet then towels then fleece and then litter trays.Mine are in their own room so on floor.I find it extremely easy to keep clean as I can sit in my cages.I do have pics on the c&c thread, cant remember what it is under

I just bought materials for a big C&C project.. I got the grids from Amazon, buy they've randomly gone up in price! My first C&C cage was bought entirely from C&Cguineapigcages, it was fantastic.. Although I bought a couple of cages & built them into a combi for my piggies and bunny (who lives underneath). This time it was cheaper to buy everything separately. I asked C&Cguineapigcages what they'd quote me for the correx & it was around £30 each sheet! :O Crazy. I can't wait to see photos of your cage all set up!
