Hello guys,

been searching on making a c&C cage for my guinea pigs,

I have found a set of 20 squares on amazon for 27.99,

does anyone know any where else to get them that is in the high street that i wouldnt have to order offline to get,

also what else can i use as a flooring instead of coloplast.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

sadly not no the nearest one by the looks of it is a good 200 mile away lol i live on the south coast wish i did now your saying that though. that is really cheap.

If you do decide to order via the internet there is a company on ebay (I think they are called grendle or something) that sell grids for a reasonable price. What I loved about them is that I they arrived the day after I put the order in! I'll try to track down the correct link if you are interested.

no these are the ones i have been looking at [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black/dp/B004RJ1K36/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i[/ame]

I guess plastic ones are not good because they get nibbled?

yer it is them ones on ebay the exact same ones but there a quid cheaper on amazon

o no just looked again there same price

Those ones are fine, they are like the B & Q ones I think. There are some completely plastic panels around, but personally I wouldn't use them & some are smaller in size!

If you are housing baby piggies then don't forget you will either need to double the grids so they can't poke their heads through or make the correx higher by slipping cardboard all around. Have you looked at this site for ideas?

:)

what about these? [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/INTERLOCKING-SHOE-ORGANIZER-RACK-PAIRS/dp/B0011YAZV8/ref=pd_sim_lp_1"]http://www.amazon.co.uk/INTERLOCKING-SHOE-ORGANIZER-RACK-PAIRS/dp/B0011YAZV8/ref=pd_sim_lp_1[/ame]

or would they nibble though them i think they might have metal edges

Ah they are the ones not to get! They are far too small so you need lots more anyway & the piggies may do an Olympic jump over them lol :))

I just thought I would add to this after our experience of trying to get hold of grids. My advice would be to steer clear of B&Q for them! We originally ordered ours from there and were given the usual 2-3 week delivery time. By the end of the 3rd week all they could tell us was that they hadn't had them in yet and would contact us. By the end of the 4th week, they had contacted the supplier to find out what was going on, and they had been told that the supplier doesn't know when or if they will ever have them back in stock. It's shocking that B&Q are STILL taking money for these to be honest.

We got a refund and ordered from Amazon ([ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Wire-Cube-Storage-System/dp/B0050SVZ9M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1320057661&sr=8-2[/ame]), they arrived within 2 days, so it was worth paying a bit extra, plus the postage was reasonable considering most places bump the price up when they see our IV postcode.

The plastic ones could be a viable option though! I've been watching progress videos of someones cage on youtube and they've used the plastic ones, it's looking really good, just wish I'd thought of using them instead of forking out so much for 3 packs of the Amazon ones! http://www.youtube.com/user/thepiggyhub

these ones are mainly plastic and are not square i dont think. anyway reading the dimensions :)

mhmm I'm not sure the plastic ones are cheaper and you get alot more of them for your money but the metal ones sound like to be a better option.

either set are cheaper and better than a shop bought cage :) i would still go with all metal though

as for the floor i just used lino and re did the flooring of the room they were in.

if you cant use correx, lino, a strong shower curtain, or tarpaulin work as well.

i just brought the black metal ones from amazon for 27 quid now just need to think about how to do the flooring of the cage

These ones are okay (I have some of these as well as more standard grids), but they are not grids - the sides are solid - the height is fine (just turn them up the other way and they are higher than the cubes). The major issue with them is that you cannot attach water bottles.

The ones I like are on ebay from a seller called Grendle Enterprises.

no i didnt go for the plastic ones i went for these ones [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black/dp/B004RJ1K36/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i"]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black/dp/B004RJ1K36/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i[/ame]

They would be okay but you need something waterproof underneath them really. What sort of flooring have you got?

Ive made 2 out of metal grids & one out of plastic it hasnt been chewed & seems just as good..I dont use fleece i use fina card it doesnt smell or get everwhere like shavings..

I have the plastic ones you're talking about! They're half the size of the normal grids, but you get 64 in a pack, so essentially 32 grids which is pretty alright for £30! I personally love them, and they work just aswell as the mesh ones, apart from the fact you can make a lid, obviously because they would have no light!

Hi I got mine from amazon in September by a company called Grendel they have a website but we found it was cheaper from amazon with delivery even though they are the same people
