Hi, I am in the first stages of building my c&c cage and wondered if anyone has ever experienced any of their piggies climbing the sides & escaping.

Everything I have read says that piggies cant climb but just wondered if anyone can tell me otherwise before I build one only to find some have escaped?

Thanks
Claire xx

They can just about get on top of things like igloos and wooden arches, but proper climbing like my hamster does, never ever seen one do that!

ha ha good question, i would have always said no until i saw the evidence on here!! YES they can!

I cant remember, but i know someone will defo pipe up and say 'watch this' i saw it with my own eyes, the little monkey just climed up and jumped over the top yikes :{

I read about that video but not seen it,

I've had C&C's for about a year with my 9 piggies + foster ones and never had any escaping.

You have to be careful with babies, under around 12 weeks ish had one nearly get his head stuck through the holes once.

I had to prison proof mine at the weekend as little Oscar the smallest piggy i had went straight to a gap and was nearly through it before i realised......arrrgggghhhhh lol

Thanks everyone for your replies - one of my little ones (8 wks old) escaped through the gaps in the grid when i made a temporary one but that was only at ground level......didnt realise how skinny she was under all her fur as she is a bit of a fluffball !

How about if i make the sides out of the mesh grids instead, surely this would prove harder to climb if they were going to?? (lol)

They can escape, but most don't even try. When we had an open C&C on the floor, none of ours even tried to get out. It all depends on the piggie I think!

I've owned many many piggies (presently 13), and used C and C in some form with all of them. I've only ever had one who could climb them. Rosie wouldn't tolerate upper levels - she climbed up one cube, and dropped the two to the bottom (did this a couple of times before i caught on - luckily no injuries) :( Stubborn wee furball! :))
