I am never happy with cage sizes. I know that my 10x2 C&C cage is big enough for 6 sows and 1 neutered boar, but I'm not happy.

So, I have decided to extend the cage, but upwards this time. This would make it number 34523 alteration (or so it seems).

Now I had a loft. That has been used to convert from a 8x2 to the current 10x2. I have enough grids for the 2x2 loft to go back. I have enough connectors and support bars. I still have the ramp, which only needs a good clean.

What I don't have is the Correx base.

Now here is where I have a choice. I have emailed the C&C cage company for the cost of the Correx, and I would also purchase 2 spare grids which would be used for herding the piggies during cleaning. This would make it the 4mm thickness, which is good for lifting it in and out during cleaning because it is quite sturdy.

Or, I can purchase the Antinox from Wicks for about £4.50 for a huge sheet. It is only 2mm thick, and I would have to measure and score it myself. I have used this one before, and even when doubled up, it can be quite flimsy.

Or I can remove about 3metres of tape on the main base, remove what was the loft base and use that again for the loft and add the Antinox to the main cage. But this would disrupt the piggies.

What would you all do?

Yes - convenience all the way! I'd buy new correx even though it's a bit more expensive

If it was cheaper, I'd glue 2 sheets of the wicks stuff together and score it myself. If not cheaper, get it delivered as you're thinking. Sounds like too much fuss to undo the cage bottom again.

I have had both 4mm and 2mm Corex and I'd definitely say use the 4mm, so much better!
