We currently have three guinea pigs, two sows and a neutered boar. Our two girls are outdoor piggies and our boy is currently being introduced to he outdoors to get used to it in a separate hutch. We are hoping he will bond with Patch from Little Pip's as we have now passed our home check to adopt her. :)

However, during the colder months we'll be moving them indoors and using C&C grids and correx. We're going to design a custom cage ourselves with at least one loft and I've already sourced the C&C grids as cheap as I can online.

I'm now debating whether to buy one of the ramps on eBay or just make my own. They seem to sell a length of plastic gutter pipe on eBay but it says you need to make them grippy by adding carpet or something. I'm worried about them eating this, especially if I had to glue it in place, and I don't want it getting smelly if they wee on it. I've seen some wooden ones but they're ridiculously expensive for what they are.

Our girls hurtle up and down their ramp in their double hutch without any problems (now that they're used to it!) and it has a grippy surface, similar to roofing felt (is that what it's called?). I was thinking I could either line a gutter pipe with that, or maybe stick some to a wooden ramp that we make ourselves. Would that be ok do you think? We have lots of offcuts of wood at home already (pine I think) that t could be made from, and I could always cut some grooves into it rather than stick roofing felt onto it.

What do other people use for ramps, and how well do your piggies get on with it?

Would really appreciate some advice as I think I've got the rest all sorted now. :) Thank you.

If you have trouble making them with correx Screwfix sell 3 metres of the guttering really cheap. You would be able to make a few ramps out of it :)
