C And C Lid?

In everyone's opinions on what do you think of having lids on cages, like are they 100% needed or is it ok without? Just wondering am I being too fussy on something they don't need
I'm getting a proper c and c cage so it's that standard height etc

From everything I read, it seems the lid isn't needed unless you have small kids or larger animals that can get to your piggy.

Nope non at all, i've had various shapes of C&C cages on many levels with hides etc and not one escape attempt.

On this note, I'm considering saving up for a C&C cage, how would I add a roof/lid? Since I have cats and dogs who sometimes go into my room.
Is a lid just more parts or could I use something else as a lid?
