I'm desperatley trying to arrange something so my little lot can come indoors for the Winter. Simon had agreed that they can come so just trying to figure out how!

As our house is tiny, I'm thinking of making the most of the space under the stairs, as at the moment it's full of piles of shoes and piles of fleece rolleyes. We have an open plan living room so they would be tucked away quite nicely. Plus they's be far enough away from Simon to stop their hay from making him sneeze!

Anyway, my plan is kinda like this (excuse my poor attempts at drawing in Paint! :red)

Now, the first problem is that they're going to have to sacrafice a bit of space, but to be honest, I'd rather them be a tad cramped and warm than have loads of space and be cold. Plus whilst they're in they can have the run of the living room most nights too :)

My thought was to cover pretty much the whole cubby hole with correx to protect the wall and floor and just have c and c grids accross the front.

So my next problem is what the hell do I search for when looking for grids :(|) I've tried ebay to no avail. I'm only gonna need about 5 grids at the most, does anyone know of anywhere that sells them individually?

Thanks x>>

I got mine from amazon, i'll link you hold on... x.... mazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_nr_seeall_1/202-1475802-3556616?ie=UTF8&rs=&keywords=Storage Cubes&rh=i:aps,k:Storage Cubes,i:kitchen Here you go :) click on the cheaper ones, they're...well cheaper lmao xx

that's cool, no worries :) although, make sure you have a good supply of cable ties. it took me and my other half three days to complete four cages. so make sure you have a whole day too - we had to manuver ours around him working nights. :) My piggies love it so much. :) xx

I'm only really going to have to build a fence across the front of the cubby hole, I just need to figure out someway of keeping it in place ?/

I think I have have to try and attach it to the correx somehow. Hmmm.... :{

Wickes sell something similar to the c&c, you get 16 squares for £14.99 and they're really sturdy I've got them in my shed being used as 3 big play runs for all 8 of my piggies during the daytime.

Ooh, even better! We have a Wickes on my way home from work! Stupid question, but I assume they'll be near the storage stuff?

Not all wickes have them in stock (mine didn't) so you'll have to order in store and they take a couple of days to arrive at the store, the product number is 165125.
You could always phone and ask if they have them, if not could they order them in for you then it saves you a wasted journey.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. I've just ordered some correx and that'll probably take a few days too. Thanks so much :)

@ Lexy Good idea! I want to keep it nice and simple - otherwise I'll end up loosing a finger or something :(|)

Ooh, excitied to get them in now! xx>>>

Hi

got my cubes from Kings storage Warrington

I have the phone number and address if you would like it

They are also on the internet

Don't know if you have had any luck but I have some spares I could post to you if it would help?

Thanks everyone I really appriciate your help x>>

My brother works at B & Q so He's gonna get me some panels tomorrow, he gets a bit of extra discount too xx>>>

Even better news is that they've come in early! I completely forgot about our indoor run, so as it's expecially cold (again!) tonight, I've made their pen up temporarily until all my bits arrive. Now they're under the stairs, they seem to have a reasonable amount of space. Plenty for Boris to popcorn about anyway! :)

Thanks again x>>

I got mine from B&Q too. I have spare too that would probably be enough for you, but no way I could get them there lol. I'm sure your piggies will appreciate being in the warm though, even if they are a tad cramped :))

I have stairs just like yours and my piggies are underneath in two ajoining large cages. I have some C+C but not got round to adding to their space just yet, they seem happy jumping from one cage to the other. I let them out to exercise in the hall but when i check in on them most of them have gotten themselves back in the cage! I dont know how much they like it having floor time prefering to run about their own cages. As long as their happy, I'm happy I suppose.

P.s it'd be great to see what you do when you build your cage, I might 'borrow' your idea :))

There are some pics in this thread.. although not very clear.

I basically made a base to fit and put panels down the right hand side and across the front. The side panels are fixed to the correx (which is about 3 inches high) although it probably doesn't need it as it's a pretty tight fit. It was to make sure the very back panel couldn't fall more than anyhthing, but this is held in place with a wooden hidey table (under the red fleece) too.

The front left panel is currently held to the correx with ribbon, as Boris quickly discovered that if he shoved it he could go on a little adventure! I plan on fixing it to the actual staircase with a little hook, but it'll do for now as they can't get to it and nibble their way to freedom :)
