Hi, I have 2 female piggies and i wondered if a 2x4 cage with a 1x2 loft would be okay? Do you recommend c and c cages and what are your experiences with them? Also is fleece good with Aubiose in litter trays? How often do you wash fleece and would you recommend it/ is it good? Do you have to put something under fleece? How do you wash it and what do you wash it with? Sorry for all the questions, I am new to c and c cages and fleece!

A 2 X 4 with a loft will be fine for 2 girls, although a 2 x 5 would be even better. If you use specially made fleece liners which have an inner absorbent core (like those from ZiggysPiggies or C and E Cosies) you won't need to put anything underneath it. If you just use single layer fleece, you will need to put towels or newspaper underneath, as the wee will go straight through. I don' t use Aubiose so cannot recommend it, though I know a lot of people do use it. It is very finely chopped up straw and is said to be very soft and absorbent. I think a lot would get kicked out of your litter trays and get caught in the fleece. It is a good idea to have two sets of fleece so that you can replace the one in the wash. Fleece can be washed at 40 degrees but do not use fabric softener, as this ruins the wicking properties. Non-bio washing liquid or powder is fine, and I use Dettol Laundry Cleanser to kill bacteria.

I've just put mine in a c&c with fleece. They absolutely love it, and have already become more confident with us and more playful (they were in a hutch and run indoors). They are zooming round it and lying in the middle of the fleece, instead of always hiding as they did before. I've attached a little run hutch to maximise the floor space. The fleece stays dry and they don't even mind me 'poovering' with a DustBuster every now and then to keep it clean. I'm really happy with it.

Aubiose isn't finely chopped straw, it's hemp made from the hemp plant. It is very much like wood chip but a lot softer, no dust, DOESN'T stick to fleece or long haired piggies so easy to brush off. It hooves up fantastically with my little hand helps hoover! Love the stuff, just a trip to get it as it's only equine suppliers that stock it near me. Hope this helps.
