Hello, this is my first post on here!:)p I am a member of the sister rabbit forum and have 4 rabbits. I have recently decided I would really like a pair of female indoor piggies :)) I have been doing some research and am still a little torn between buying an indoor rabbit cage or making a C and C cage. It is going to be in the living room so I am thinking a C and C cage will look a little more stylish ? and less childish- why do they insist on making the cages for piggies all the colours of the rainbow!? they are not just for children!

So I was wondering after lots of research I have some qus

1) At the moment I can only locate the grids on ebay, does anyone else know anywhere else that has them at the moment, i have tried my b and q with no luck, and can't find them in any online stores?

2) I think the mesh grids are more pleasing to the eye than the gris with big squares- any ideas where i can get them?

3) I think I am going to go for a layer of newspaper, followed by a layer of megazorb followed by a layer of fleece- and hoover up poops on the fleece each day- does this sound ok, how many days do you think it will be before it smells in my living room?

4) A few times a year I go and visit my family, I take the rabbits with me in the car (about an hour and a half) would it be ok to do with the piggies too?

5) Is it easy to move a c and c cage? can you just pick up the correx to move it?

Think that is it for now, thankyou!

I had a look at that websiye, they are fab and I would definitely buy one if they were in the UK but no such luck.. :(

Costco is currently the best place to buy the grids.

I believe they are £10 for a 4 cube system or £25 for a 16 cube system.

It costs about £20 to join costco but costco is GREAT. It's worth it for loads of the stuff they sell there not just grids.

Then ring around signmakers in your area for the correx. I don't pay more than £20 for a HUGE piece that you can use. But some signmakers try to charge more so it's worth ringing round.

I have to say it's such a fab feeling putting together a cage exactly how you want it.

Hi & Welcome :)

Some answers to your questions

1 & 2 The small mesh panels used to be for sale at Screwfix, not sure what the ones in Costco are :)

3. The megazorb may stick to the fleece tho' i don't know for sure as i use fleece over towels when i have piggies indoors.
I change these every 3rd/4th day as i find that's when they can start to smell dependant on the size of the piggies & what they've drank/eaten.

4. The piggies will be fine to travel that length of time

5. I find it easy to move but have to do it in 2 bits. The grids first which usually stay together (if its one floor) esp if they're cable tied too & the correx is like moving a large box :)

any idea what they call the ones in screwfix? been thinking about some for mine, and i have a screwfix just down the road!

So do you think towels under fleece would be a better option?
I have megazorb as I use it for my rabbits litter trays, but am I right in thinking litter training the piggles isnt possible?

Does their smell depend on what you feed? Are there smelly foods to avoid! ha!?

I assume similar to rabbits its best to feed a pellet food rather than a muslie?
