Well as you probably know I have been dabbling with the idea of a C & C for a while, whilst my joined ferplast setup is cheap and it serves it's purpose it would be even better to given them a flat floor to zoom around on rather than having to jump over the sides.

Today whilst shopping, I found a pack of storage cubes in home bargains for £9.99, there are 16 which are plastic covered and 30cm x 30cm (slightly smaller than the standard C & C grids), but at that price I thought they would be able to serve some sort of purpose.
Unfortunately given the space I have I can't just do a long 6x2, so again have to improvise with L shapes in order to fit in my room, which also means I will have to buy some more (H+B don't have anymore in stock, so I think it will have to be the regular grids), which will also allow me to see the pigs better.

These are the grids I got.

This is my very rough design, obviously given how the grids interlock this may be slightly larger than I can fit so I may have to overlap some bits. The green bits are the grids I have now and the red are the normal sized grids I will have to buy.

At the moment I am looking for a minimum of 20 normal sized grids if I want to have a loft included, but I could potentially improvise the sides to a loft with the plastic grids.

I just don't know where to start, I have been looking at the various places that sell grids online and just can't make my mind up. So any advice would be very much appreciated. :)

This should be big enough for 4 pigs shouldn't it? The main part is the same size as a 6X2ft hutch with an additional 4sqft added on, hopefully a loft will give a bit more floor space if I use it as a kitchen/ hay room.

There is s thread with loads of c&c layouts on this forum. I use cable ties to put mine together as it gives you morer flexibility. You could do like a triangular shape rather than an L shape as well.Hope this helps

Thanks. Don't think a triangle would work with the space i have. An L shape gives a bit more floor space for me and I'd think it would be more sturdy.

I think an L shape would definitely work. I would try and get traditional C&C grids if you can, good for visibility and also as well as the connectors you can cable tie them together, to make it double secure. This is needed as determined piggie heads can push grids solely connected by the connectors apart and there is the danger of them getting head stuck....

I need to get more grids anyway so i was planning on getting traditional grids for the front and then having the others cable tied on the bits against my wardrobe. I would be cable tying everything together anyway particularly as I don't know what any new additions would be like escapee wise.
I'm just trying to source some at a reasonable price- I have until the end of december before I need to be sorted . :)

Should add. I was considering punching holes in the plastic ones to cable tie them further down the grid as well.

C and c grids are on the way. Ordered 40 + the 16 i already have. Planning on eventually adding a loft level :) Hopefully will arrive tomorrow.

I recently set up a C & C cage for my girls and they love it! I hope your pigs do too! Good luck :)
