Hi,

Butter Ball is finally at peace...after 6 months of continuous problems, starting with an eye injury in May, then an ear infection on and off, plus his eye having flares of conjunctivitis, he couldn't take it any more. Over the past few days we noticed discharge from his ear and gave him baytril while we got an appointment...it turned out to be an abscess that was potentially clogging his air ways. The vet tried to drain it but the day after he started sneezing blood and pus and was struggling to breath...we had to make the decision for him to end his suffering...he gave it his all over the past six months but he is finally out of pain and will be joining my previous piggy OTRB. We are taking some time to grieve and spoiling our two remaining piggies then we will be thinking about getting a new friend from a rescue to help us in the bonding process.

So sorry for your loss.
You gave Butter Ball a last gift of love but it’s tough for you.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve

Hopefully he knew he was loved...so far I cant even bring myself to clean out his cage...he was a good piggy...full of sass and always wanting food...he will be coming home after his cremation to take his throne back to watch over his brother and sister...

So sorry for your loss. Butter Ball is pain-free over the rainbow bridge now 🌈 Yes the final cage clean of a departed piggy can be heart breaking :(

It really is...I keep looking at it but I just can't touch it...even the strewen about hay and teddies are where he left them...I know I have to wash them due to not knowing fully what he had but they still smell like him and have all the stains on from him throwing them around...

Give yourself time to grieve and be kind to yourself. It is ok if it takes a while to feel ready to clean the cage.

Sorry for your loss. Sleep tight little fella x

Thank you all for your messages...it means a lot to hear...I hope you all have a good weekend...and happy Halloween in advance

I am ever so sorry that there hasn't been a good ending but please take consolation that you have given him the most loving and most heart-breaking gift you could.
