While at the London Pet show I bought a few piggy bits and bobs. They had a bedding that I could not resist trying. It was a special offer £3. My boys are all on woodshavings but Nibbles has been a bit sneezy recently so I have been seeking alternatives.

It is essentially paper pulp and I tried it for the first time in a cage clean out this morning.

As the packet proclaims it really does expand. To cover both cages I used a little over a third of the packet. It smells disgusting but when I left it for a bit the smell went away.

Absolutely no dust! The piggies haven't been sneezing and neither has my mum! It looks really natrual and despite the fact my boys are really messy it is virtually the same now as it was first thing this morning.

I have gotten used to the smell and am quite impressed now.

Has anyone else used this before? What did you think of it?

It's basically Megazorb - made by the same people (Northern Crop Driers) and repackaged into smaller and more expensive packets by Burgess...

Is it? How much is Megazorb and can you buy it in pet shops or supermarkets?

We really like it and it costs about the same as the bedding we already get so I though it wasn't bad.

I just bought my first bag of Megazorb at the weekend (haven't used it yet!) but I got it at a local equine supplier for £8.40. They even carried it to my car for me!

Seeing as we have very little storage (its mostly filled with hay!) and Mum won't shop online so we need local providers. There is a little pet supplies stall in the saturday market or a couple of local shops which all sell this brand which is why we are trying it.

Can you get megazorb from pet shops? If not then Burgess Excel have cleverly filled a gap in the market for people like me. I don't mind paying a little more for the convinience of being able to get small regular amounts. rolleyes

Where in Kent are you Amy? I can see if anyone on the horse forums knows of your local tack/equine shop

Do you live anywhere near Maidstone I know lillico at alysford sell it £8

Oops megazorb that is £8 for 85 litres

Yep. 85l would be too much. With limited storage this size bag seems pretty good!

Just seen Carefresh bedding in local shop. Is this the same as megazorb? Is it better or worse? And most importantly, is it dusty?

Thanks

Carefresh si the same idea but agian just mroe expensive. Megasorb really isnt as bit as it sounds. 85l. is about hip height but its not wide at all. I aquesse it inbettween my darwers. Its definatly no mroe than 30cm wide! COnsideering the saving see if there is anywehre you can squeeze it in! Also mine doesnt smell odd, I quite like the smell!

1 <3 megazorb :-) its nommy the smell IMHO.

I pay £8 for 85litres whereas this burgess bedding is 10 litres a bag for what £3-4?

Hope you don't mind me butting in but I've been looking at this bedding instead of shavings for my newly adopted boy. He is an outdoor piggie though and I wondered if it would be suitable? Not sure about it getting all over the garden :{
