Hello

As some may know me I have Graham the guinea pig who has suspected UTI or IC. He is on Baytril still (3 weeks) and on Metacam/Meloxidyl 1.5kg 0/4ml which I have now been told is far too low for him he weighs 1.24kg. He is squealing in pain a lot most nights again now so I really need to try something else. Do I ask the vet for Septrin? To try this antibiotic? I have been given Buprecare for him to try it reads 0.25ml by mouth twice a day. It is multidose injection on the label? Can this be mixed with Metacam at the same time? Or do I space this all out? Also I now only have 0.5mg Metacam left now but my vet still has instructed to give 0.4ml twice a day for him which makes no sense as they also prescribed the dog strength Meloxidyl same dosage!?

Thank you for any advice. Someone on another thread suggested Cartrophen too?

Graham has 1 capsule of Cystease a day too.

Thank you

I’m afraid only a vet can tell you what dosages to give, its not something we can do.
The dog metacam is low and therefore giving the same dose of cat metacam would be worse - cat metacam is three times weaker
I know you said in your other thread that your vet says he is having the max dose, that’s not the case, is there anyway you can see a more knowledge vet?
