My hubby knocked up a wooden frame for a house for me that covers the whole side of the cage (1 x 2 grids).

I made a correx frame to sit on top, so there is a new jump up mezzinane floor for enterprising piggies with house underneath. It is easily assembled or taken apart for cleaning or spot cleaning.

As you can see, it was an instant success!

I'm loving it :) It reminds me of the second level I had in the hutch that was occupied by Connie and Eliza followed by Eleanor and Eliza. Your hubby has great DIY skills xx

Wiebke you could make a fortune selling those via Ebay. I'd buy one! :)

I use the same principle for my big upstairs mezzanine (which has a ramp). The mezzanine correx is really easy to lift off for spot cleaning or if I need to pick up a piggy that is hiding. It is also very quickly assembled when I change the cage, but gives the piggies a good space to have their cuddle beds and some protection.

Ooo wowie! I love it, such a good idea hehe gives me an idea for a bit of home decorating for my piggies...now i just need to go and find my OH as he'll be busy this weekend ;)! Lovely photos too btw!

ooh I love it! good to see a hidey which doesnt take away from the floor space in the cage

That's very nice. We have something similar in our monster cage with a wooden box and vetbed on top. Its very popular.

You have to be enterprising with space when there's a tribe! Good for you. :)
