Felt a bump on my piggie’s back when stroking him this evening and found something strange on his skin. Couldn’t work out what it was and whether the brown line is just a healing scratch wound, or something else? Sorry for the awful pics - shot wouldn’t focus! Does anyone know what this could be and whether I need to visit the vets or just monitor?

It’s difficult to tell from the photos. Does it look like a cut of some sort, a healing wound or a swelling beneath the skin? There wouldn’t be any harm in getting it checked out. But it’s not urgent.

My Panda had a similar looking lump but with a dot in the middle not a line, it kept growing so while she was being spayed for her ovarian cysts it was quickly cut off and cauterised. She's got a little bald patch there now but it's never come back. I would definitely have it checked out at some point, just in case.

Hi

It is not quite easy to make out but it looks like a burst harmless sebaceous cyst to me? If in any doubt, please see a vet for a hands-on examination. We can only guess but not diagnose.

PS: Please be aware that burst or drained cysts can refill and grow on or get infected.
