Our guinea pig has a bump on his right eyelid. We believe it just appeared as it was not there a week ago. The eye itself appears normal. I am not sure how to upload a photo.

Sorry to hear this. Anything to do with the eyes is considered an emergency and probably should be seen by a vet. But it's hard to tell how serious it is without a photo.
To attach a photo, click the "Attach files" button which is left of the "Post reply" button. Select a picture and then click the "Insert..." button that should appear on the top left corner of the picture and select either "Thumbnail" or "Full Image" to put in your reply.

Please do have your piggy seen by a vet. Anything to do with eyes is considered urgent.

Please switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh him daily. This is to ensure that he is still eating sufficient hay (you can’t gauge hay intake by eye) as a piggy experiencing any pain can stop eating enough.
If weight loss begins 50g has occurred, you will need to step in with syringe feeding.

I hope he is ok

Welcome to the forum, I'm sorry it's in these circumstances. I agree that you need an urgent vet appointment especially as that looks really sore and the poor boy needs pain relief ASAP.

Hi and welcome

That looks like a rather nasty bit of infection in the eyelid. Please see a vet.

Hello and welcome to the Forum. I agree with the others at this should be seen as soon as possible by Vet. In the UK eye issues are seen same day as an emergency. I would very much urge you to ask the vet to see you today if possible.

Poor guy! Good on you for reaching out and asking for advice! He definitely needs to be seen by a veveterinarian urgently though, eye injuries really hurt and can prevent them from eating sufficiently. All the best 💗
