I just had 2 male guinea pigs around 3 or 4 rehomed to me. I was told she would cut their nails before she brought them. I looked at their nails and oh my they are in bad shape and havent been cut in quite a while. I have never cut nails as it is just myself and I was able to hold one and she would stick out her front paws and I was able to cut a tiny bit off at a time as my big fear is cutting the quic. so I did a little piece at a time but there one the outside nail that is so curved under it is almost reaching the pads under his foot and with just myself I cant get underneat the curved nail so I can cut it it is that close and cant splay his toes out so if I tried I most likely would cut the pads underneath. That nail looks like is dying but the most scary part I saw was that on the bottom back of his front feet he seems to have bumble foot he has a hard hard brown scab that rounds the side of the back of his pads on his foot. I dont know what to do I have never ever encountered this before. I am seeing if someone experienced can come with her husband and get the back nails and the two outside ones. I am nervous and dont know what to do about the bumble foot though. The scabs are hard and attached right into the skin so must have been there a while it think. The other one has black nails and I dont know anything about cutting black nails so I am gonna try to leave it to the experts. She said she was gonna cut them but its been a long time since they were cut so am thinking that in their previous home some of which I witnessed myself with the condition of the cage they came in and how dirty and was so small they were walking on top of each other. How do I deal with this. This isnt what I was told I was told were healthy no problems. If anyone has any advice on what I should do that will be great.

I’m sorry to hear these pigs have issues.
Sadly a private rehoming does come with this risk - people aren’t always honest when rehoming their animals.

You should get them both to the vet. They need a general health check but bumblefoot needs treatment (antibiotics, pain relief etc).

Give them a weight check (I’d weigh them daily for a while so you can monitor hay intake closely) and ensure they get a good hay based diet.

I hope they are ok

Poor little ones, that sounds so uncomfortable to walk on ☹️ At least they're in much better hands now. I hope everything goes well at the vets and they get the care they need 🩷

Poor boys, at least they have a good home now. As others have said, I would get them to the vet for a nail trim and piggy MOT.

Definitely get them checked over. They may be spurs rather than bubble foot. Good luck. ❤️
I agree when I checked further as they run around the end of the last pad on the foot and from what I saw in pictures I do think they are spurs as well. Yesterday I was able to trim the nails on the front of Pumpkin so they arent curling under when he walks but the outsid ones. Its difficult to cut them they curl under quite far so I would feel comfortable usong more a small nail clippers because when I started to try was gonna nic the pad on her paw. I picked up the other one with the black nails and his have grown some down to a point then twisted to the side. He is very fidgetty while doing it so I took it slow was able to trim the one foot and his under feet are okay. Since he was so stressed just doing the one foot I am gonna take it one foot at a time so doesnt stress out too much.

Thank you for the replies. This myself is the very first time cutting guinea pigs nails but have watched a lot of videos showing how and red a lot so when I picked up pumpkin yesterday I felt more confident than I have ever felt and was calm and I took the advice just take off little bits a time. I called the vet yesterday and I am a client there still but there is only one vet there that will deal with exotic animals. The receptionist cant just go and book a visit with her she took my name how old Pumkin is and what I needed the visit for. She told me will call me back when she has talked to the vet. As I have really researched a lot of information and the care and the things they need talking care of the two I feel so much more confident. The guinea with the black nails the bottom of his feet look good. All the researching has helped me with knowing more about their care how to handle them and more but their is still a lot of stuff I am not sure about and am glad I can post here for advice. As soon as I know if the vet will see them I will make an appt right away if I can.

That's such good news, I hope Pumpkin is finding it easier to walk now with his newly cut nails 😊 (I have a little Pumpkin too!) The first time cutting their nails is always the scariest but it gets easier, and it sounds like you did a great job! I hope you can get an appointment soon, but until then it's great that you feel more confident because that can really make all the difference 🩷
