Hello!
phoenix and ginger went to the vet today, and were recommended Mineral Oil for their dry ears and feet ,
My question is, are these ingredients safe ?
the mixed Tocorpherals are used as a preservative.
I tried looking for 100% mineral oil, but cannot find one in America.
Its the only smell free oil I could find !

Hmmm this seems odd advice from a vet, mineral oil is not really suitable for skin... piggies with dry skin usually get coconut oil, or vaseline, which are much safer and more appropriate for skin and not toxic if they get licked off. Gorgeous Guineas do some excellent piggy moisturisers specifically for guinea pigs and I believe they do ship to the USA... but possibly you might consider looking for a second opinion from a more experienced vet, just to rule out any fungal or bacterial infection causing the dry skin- personally I would not trust this vet's expertise based on recommeding mineral oil :(

Since it was the inside of phoenix’s ear, he said the possibility of it being an infection were low. That it may be our location. He’s been a vet for Birds and small mammals for over 25 years, and has helped with so many issues ! Ive seen plenty of others using mineral oil for such as anal sacks that’s what I asked
But I preferred coconut oil anyways!

I wouldn’t put anything on the inside of the ear...don’t know what others think.
