Hi everybody

I'm really sad.. I hope you can help me

I have three guinea pigs that live together since march 2008 in a cage of 5x2 grids
- Poppi, 4 years old, neutered male
- Nanni, 4 years old, spayed female
- Polda, 3 1/2 years, female with ovarian cysts

Nanni and Poppi are sister and brother, they were a beautiful couple for years, truly in love
Polda was part of the group, but not with the same intensity

In early September I rescued a male cavy from an abuse situation
My guinea pigs already "lived" for some days in the presence of males with no problems, but not in their house (obviously in another cage)

After a few days the arrival of this piggy, Poppi began to mount the females incessantly.
Polda (ovarian cysts), more submissive, left him doing it. Nanni (spayed female ) reacted... I noticed that her back was full of bites and I immediately moved the rescued male cavy to another volunteer.

Now Poppi is still attacking her. It doesn't seem a hierarchical behaviour, but Poppi doesn't want Nanni anymore!
She can eat and so, but every now and then he chases and attacks her.

I tried with Bach Flower Remedy. It helped a lot and was very effective in calming down the attacks. I dind't separate them hoping for a good final.
Some weeks ago, however, with no reasons Poppi bites Nanni, with the result of a tufts of fur in his teeth.
I separated them, because during the day I'm at work and I can't monitor the situation.

Now I reintroduced them, but Nanni is still being bullied.

I didn't know what to do.. I don't understand the reason of this overreaction :(

Obviously, the arrival of another male has brought to the fore what obviously has been a latent problem. Sadly, once a girl decides that another piggy is no longer part of "us", there is no way back. Fall outs between girls are rare, but not unheard of; and they can come out of the blue.

Is there a way that you can have your new boy neutered and Nanni living with him? And until they can live together, that she can live next to him with interaction through the bars?

thank you.

the strange thing is that the "new" pig was not introduced to the group. He stayed only 3 days in another cage, then I moved him to another home..

Poppi is a neutered male doesn't want Nanni anymore :(

(sorry I'm italian.. I'm not sure to have explained well in the last post)

Girls can reject neutered males, sadly - it is even rarer and usually only happens during the introduction. Are Nanni and Polda still getting on and would they be happy living together while you can look try to have Poppi alone for a day or two and do formal introductions. If that doesn;t work out, you may want to consider separation and finding Poppi or Nanni a new friend to live with.

is poppi still humping polda?

do you still have the other male?

could you have poppi and polda living together and nanni and the new male living together?

Sorry guys, I'll try to explain me better than possible.. sorry for me bad english

Poppi (neutered male) attacks Nanni (spayed female)
it happened after I recovered a male pig that stayed only 3 days in my home (in another cage and was not introduced to the group)

I moved Nanni in another cage for few days. Yesterday I reintroduced her (neutral territory, cleaned cage ecc)
Now Nanni is still being bullied (she is often in a corner.. and she searches my help)
