Hello,

I currently have 4 adult female guinea pigs in a 2x4 C&C cage. I am building a 4' x 6' cage to house them. In the C&C cage, we use Guinea Dad liners and clean the cage once in the morning and once at night. I would like to switch to a different bedding material in the hopes of doing a full cleanup on the weekends and just some spot cleaning during the week. Is this possible? I figure with the larger cage area, the mess will be spread further. Should I use pine bedding, paper, or continue with the fleece pads.

Thanks!

I think you will definitely notice a difference when you move them to a bigger cage - your current set up is very small for 4 guinea pigs.
And as you already know, the smaller the cage the quicker it gets dirty.

Are you using smaller pee pads in the dirtiest areas of your current cage?
And do you have a large hay tray or kitchen area?
Both of these can make clean up easier and help contain some of the mess.

However it is difficult to be sure with so many pigs in such a small space.
As you already have the liners I would suggest you start off with these in your new cage and see how you get on.

We do use a kitchen and the smaller pee pads and that does help. There have only been 4 for a few weeks as this cage is being built. I'll plan on starting with the liners and see how it goes.

Would love to see photos of your piggies, I have four too 😊
