Building a wooden cage

I'd like to build an indoor 2 level cage for my 2 pairs of boars.
Anybody have any experience of building their own cage? What size would each level need to be ideally? (Without sticking out into the room too much). What materials did you use? How did you ensure the wood didn't become dirty or wet? What did you line each cage with - something like correx, but more permanent and easier to clean?

I (with my husbands help!) made a wooden cage from a cheap single wardrobe turned on its side so only had to make the doors for the front. The wood is laminate so ideal for cleaning as wet does not soak in. It's 6 feet long x just under 2 feet deep.
